The CSC RDM Competence Center (CC) promotes Open Science and good data management practices nationally in Finland. As part of this work, CSC has leveraged resources from the Skills4EOSC project, showcasing the tangible benefits of collaboration within the Skills4EOSC Competence Centre Network.
At a recent Research Services Days 22–23 Aug 2024 in Finland, the CSC´s RDM Competence Center presented the crucial importance of open science and robust data management practices to funders, university leaders and research administrators. The presentation highlighted the need for adequate resources and mechanisms to recognise and reward the contribution of open science. Linked to this were the policy maker training materials developed by the Skills4EOSC project, which provided concrete examples and research findings on how researchers perceive the lack of incentives.
CSC RDM Competence Center is also preparing a specialised training session on licensing in November, drawing from both the FAIR-by-design methodology and licensing training developed within Skills4EOSC. This training aims to equip participants with the skills to license their data, software, and training materials effectively, ensuring that others reuse these resources and comply with FAIR principles.
In addition to these national initiatives, CSC´s CC has shared its views on Competence Centres with international partners. In a recent presentation 19 Sep 2024 to Norwegian stakeholders, CSC provided insights into the structure and operation of its Competence Centre, as Norway embarks on the development of its own centre. This exchange exemplifies the peer support that is fostered within the network, demonstrating how collaboration enhances capacity building across borders. Collaboration between future Competence Centres is full of opportunities.
