Skills4EOSC contributes to the 3rd Open Science Symposium in Greece

At the upcoming 3rd Open Science Symposium in Greece, Skills4EOSC will showcase its significant role in advancing Open Science by highlighting the development of essential skills and competencies for researchers and institutions.

The 3rd Open Science Symposium in Greece, will take place on December 10-11, 2024, at the National Center for Scientific Research (NCSR) "Demokritos," organized by the National Initiative for Open Science (HOSI), together with the support of its 16-member organizations.

This event is suitable for and targeted to the Greek research and academic community, project managers, national organizations, and businesses involved in research, innovation and education with the purpose to inform participants on developments in Open Science and EOSC, discuss coordinated actions for Open Science in Greece, and strengthen skills in areas like open access and FAIR data.

As part of Symposium, the session "National Contribution to Open Science and EOSC" taking place at 16.30 - 16.55 CET will feature targeted presentations from Greek research community representatives. Amongst other projects GRNET will present the Skills4EOSC project, and highlight the opportunities that it creates for developing essential skills and competencies needed for researchers and institutions to thrive in utilising Open Science tools. This presentation will emphasize the key role of the Greek EOSC Competence Center into being a node for key competences in Greece and serving as a point for knowledge on Open Science standards, tools and FAIR data.

In addition to Skills4EOSC, other projects such as GraspOS, PathOS, OSTrails, RAISE, PATTERN, PSLifestyle, EVERSE, FAIRCORE4EOSC, and EOSC BEYOND will also be presented, showcasing their contributions to Open Science and the EOSC ecosystem. The session will be moderated by: Zoe Cournia, Research Director at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA).

Additionally, the Skills4EOSC project will be featured at the Posters for Projects & Welcome Reception section in a dedicated area, providing an opportunity to inform participants about its objectives, activities, and impact in fostering essential skills for researchers and institutions to succeed in Open Science.

The Symposium is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, and the Ministry of Digital Governance.
