Skills4EOSC Workshop Empowered Researchers in Policy dialogue

| Sara Di Giorgio | news

The Skills4EOSC project hosted an impactful two-day workshop titled "Science4Policy: Bridging the gap between research and decision-making" on January 30-31, 2025, at the CNR (National Research Council) in Rome, Italy. The workshop focused on enhancing researchers' science communication skills and facilitating more effective dialogue with policymakers.

Workshop Highlights

The first day featured key presentations from leading experts in the field. Joana Lobo Antunes from Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, delivered insights on effective science communication strategies, while Alessandro Allegra from the European Commission's DG Research & Innovation explored the complexities of science-informed policymaking.

Day two transformed theoretical knowledge into practical experience through interactive sessions led by Petra Buljevic and Marko Košiček. Participants engaged in role-playing exercises, including a simulated roundtable discussion on sustainable energy, allowing them to apply their newly acquired communication skills in realistic scenarios.

The workshop successfully equipped researchers with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in science communication and policy engagement. Participants gained valuable insights into communicating complex scientific concepts effectively and understanding the nuances of policy-making processes.

The full workshop program is available here. A detailed report of the event will be published soon on the Skills4EOSC website.
